Submissions
Virtuosi XE and NYLS Academic are imprints of NYLS Publishing. The Virtuosi XE and NYLS Academic imprints accept submissions from both authors and literary agents. Before sending any materials, it is always best to submit a query letter that introduces the work; briefly outlines the author's project; and discusses relevant competing works, the potential market, the availability of the complete manuscript, and the manuscript's word count. The author's résumé with publishing history and the first three chapters of the work should accompany the query letter.
NYLS Publishing will only accept queries and proposals from previously published authors who are members of The New York Literary Society.
EMAIL & TELEPHONE QUERIES/SUBMISSIONS ARE NOT ACCEPTED.
Upon review of the query, the editor you've contacted may request a detailed proposal and/or all or part of the manuscript for review. Normal submission formatting guidelines for manuscripts and nonfiction proposals should be observed.
All inquiries, proposals, and manuscripts should be accompanied by a self-addressed, stamped envelope for our reply. If you desire your materials returned to you, please provide postage suitable for that purpose.
If a proposal or a partial or complete manuscript is requested from the author or agent, NYLS Publishing or the queried imprint prefers to be the only house receiving the work. If simultaneous submissions have been made, the author or agent should mention this in a cover letter and immediately inform the requesting editor when another publisher has tendered an offer or has accepted the work for publication.
